# Cookie Policy

## Cookie Policy

This Policy explains the cookies FLASH uses, what they do, and how to control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

### 1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. They let a site recognise a returning browser and remember things between page loads.

### 2. Our approach

**We use one thing: Google Analytics.** That is the whole list.

We do not run advertising cookies. We do not run cross-site tracking pixels. We do not sell or share what we learn from analytics, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.

### 3. The cookies we set

Google Analytics sets two cookies.

The second cookie's name ends with the measurement ID of our Analytics property, so on our site it appears as `_ga_` followed by a string of letters and numbers.

**We set no strictly necessary cookies of our own, and no functional or preference cookies.**

### 4. What Google Analytics collects

Through these cookies, Analytics records the pages you view, how long you stay, the page that referred you, your device and browser type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. It does not tell us your name or your email address, and we do not combine it with your account.

We have configured our Analytics property so that:

* data is retained for **14 months** and then deleted;
* **Google Signals is switched off**, so your activity is not linked across devices using a Google account; and
* **advertising features are switched off**, so nothing collected here is used to build advertising audiences.

Google processes this data as our processor. Google's own handling is described in the [Google Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy).

### 5. Your choices

#### 5.1 Consent

Analytics cookies are set **only after you accept them**. If you decline, they are not set, and the site works exactly as before. You can change your decision at any time from the cookie settings link in the site footer.

#### 5.2 Browser controls

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies. Look for "Cookies" or "Site data" in your browser's privacy settings. Blocking these cookies will not break anything on our site.

#### 5.3 Google's own opt-out

Google offers a browser add-on that stops Analytics from collecting data on any site: [Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on](https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).

### 6. Cookies we do not control

Some of our pages, including our developer documentation, are hosted on third-party platforms. Those platforms may set their own cookies, which we do not control and which are governed by their own policies. Where that is the case, the platform is identified on the page concerned.

### 7. Changes to this Policy

Cookie rules in the European Union are under active revision, and our own site may change. We will update this Policy when either happens and will change the effective date at the top. If we add a cookie in a new category, we will ask for consent before setting it.
